Creative Arts
Bulli High School has contemporary and innovative programs in Music, Photography, Visual Arts, and Drama courses. Creativity is nurtured and developed. Attention is paid to individual skill development, ensuring that each student is encouraged to obtain their best in performance, art making and academic results.
Our curriculum enhances effective teaching and learning across the creative arts spectrum by encouraging creativity in all learning areas, as well as offering a diverse range of creative arts courses for the RoSA and Higher School Certificate.
"Researchers unanimously found that engagement in the arts nurtures cognitive, social and personal competencies by developing multiple skills and abilities."
"The research provides many examples of student successes in the arts leading to success in other areas of the curriculum."
Brian Ladd, Head of Public Programs at the Art Gallery of NSW, says: "Creativity is often the factor which proves the difference between a more imaginative thinker and a less skilful problem solver. There's evidence to show that people with training in the arts are more agile thinkers, are quicker to adapt and more able to express themselves in both verbal and non-verbal ways."
Creativity, innovation, collaborative learning and problem-solving are integral elements that provide opportunities for our students to achieve excellent outcomes in Visual Arts, Music and Drama. The emphases on conceptual thinking and the incorporation of technological components in our programming ensure that our students are challenged, engaged and ready to face the 21st-century world that surrounds them. Students are offered opportunities to extend their learning and talents through extra-curricula options such as the annual school musical production, Drama night, Twilight Zone and Highlight Zone for our music students, HSC Visual Arts exhibition and exhibitions throughout the year in the Short Gallery and sponsored exhibitions at the Point Street Cafe, Photographic exhibitions in the dedicated Photography space and Final Cut film night. Students can also participate in our Dance troupe, Dance Festival and Southern Stars.
